Squash is engrained in the Heywood’s heritage, with the first squash game taking place on the premises in 1974.
Since then, we have developed our squash facilities and now boast two solid-wall courts with viewing galleries and a glass-backed show court. Currently, there are 15 internal leagues and the we run three club teams in both the Norfolk and Suffolk leagues. We are very proud of how hard our teams work and we are thrilled that our first team won the Norfolk Championship for the first time in our club’s history last year.
A hugely popular spin-off from squash, racketball follows a similar structure, only with a bigger racquet and bouncier ball – making it the ideal starting point for beginners or those who find squash too intense. There is an internal racketball ladder and we currently have three players from the Heywood representing the county in Racketball competitions.
Beginner racketball sessions are held every Tuesday evening from 19:00 – 21:00 Individual and group coaching is available for both Squash and Racketball with the club professional and level 2 ERSA coach Tom Bobbins. 40 minute sessions are £15.00, please call 01379 643088 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book.
