At The Heywood, we value inclusivity and run a range of sessions to meet all member’s needs.
All running sessions are held in groups, which has shown to boost motivation, promote friendship and make running and training more enjoyable overall. We try to cater for all abilities and fitness levels, and we hope that one of the following options will be suited to your needs;
Heywood Half Marathon Club
Club owner Tom runs this 12-week course, consisting of one group meeting and one group run each week. The course offers the support, training and advice necessary to train for a half marathon. During the course, each member will receive a personal training plan and entry into a half marathon at the end of the 12-week course.
Couch - 5k
Get yourself moving! Designed to take members from couch-potatoes to 5K finishers in 6 weeks, this course is great for those looking to get into running or trying to pick the sport back up after a lapse. Run by Miranda, this course includes one group meeting and one group run per week, with lots of support, guidance and encouragement to help you achieve the overall goal – completing the 5K run you will be entered into at the end of the course!
The Heywood Joggers are a beginners’-based jogging group hosted by the experienced Richard Houston. Richard has established a low-cost and safe environment for those over 18 who want to keep fit, lose weight or just tone up.
Individuals are able to walk, jog, run or a combination of all three around set routes which will not exceed 3 miles in length.
Membership is only £5 per year to cover insurance and your key fob access to the club.

Tom is experienced, with a sporty background, having participated in squash, football and running to high levels. He is now the resident squash professional and always has time to chat about anything sporty.
