Give me 4-30th July

The Heywood presented “Give Me 4”, which took place next door, at the High School. Chico Slimani (X Factor) came to Diss to deliver Block Fit, which includes 4 workouts in one hour. The session included 90’s clubbercise, ZUMBA and KONGA®, which was delivered by our very own co-owner Amy Bobbins.

The event was open to all abilities and was packed full of fitness and fun. Ladies and gentlemen of all ages travelled from Norwich, Long Stratton and the surrounding villages for these inspirational workouts, over a 4-hour period. Afterwards there was a party at the club in the well-stocked bar, with buffet nibbles, food to order and a complimentary drink for all in attendance. Nicola Crowshaw was on hand to demonstrate ‘My Showcase’ beauty products… and of course the very charming Chico posed for photos with everyone, including the club cat.

12-hour squash marathon charity event- 17th June

Tom and Members of the squash club joined force to hold a 12-hour squash marathon. The event was meant to be in conjunction with 2 other clubs, but due to lack of numbers at their venues they had to withdraw from the event. The Heywood had strong numbers and wanted to go ahead with the event so Tom suggested a doubles competition with a 19:00 start. Every name was placed into a hat and drawn at random to form 2 groups, 2 lots of seeding and partners at random. Overall, £575 was raised for Cystic Fibrosis.

St Albans Half Marathon-12th June

14 incredible ‘Heywood Halfer’s’ – some of whom couldn’t run 1 mile 12 weeks ago – set off to run the St Alban’s half marathon. This was to be one of the best experiences of Tom Bobbins 42 months at the club. It was the perfect event for anyone looking for a new challenge, or to beat their personal best.

One female member noticed a fellow member, (who was the last member of the Heywood Halfer’s to cross the line) was tiring towards the finish line, so she got under the barrier and ran alongside her fellow racer to encourage her to the finish line. An emotional gesture of ‘team spirit’ for the ‘Halfer’s’ to witness.

A BBQ was held in honour of one of the one runner’s Birthday and the competitors’ efforts afterwards.
